Course outline

This course follows on from the beginners' class and is suitable for women with a keen interest in learning the basics of many aspects of hairdressing.

Topics will include:

  • Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • Client consultation for hair services
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Colour and lighten hair
  • Style and finish hair
  • Cut hair using basic techniques
  • Plait and twist hair

You can gain some hands on experience in hairdressing in a relaxed and fun atmosphere

There are no formal entry requirements, however you will be required to complete a short work book, so must be able to complete written work.

This course is for women only.

Teaching & assessment

Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and will be encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course.

Progression

On completion of this course you may be interested in our other Beauty, Health and Wellbeing courses. We offer a range of full-time and part-time in hairdressing, barbering, beauty, holistic therapy as well as Apprenticeships in this field.
