This custom built course is designed for individuals with a high academic ability and a passion for design and manufacture.

Future design engineers will need to be able to combine mathematical understanding with creative thinking to find innovative solutions to real world problems and this course is designed to do just that!

You will study A Levels to prepare for university level study as well as a BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering, giving you the unique opportunity of getting hands-on with industry-standard equipment.

You’ll need 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4/A*-C, including English Language at grade 9-4/A*-C and Maths at grade 9-6/A*-B.

One of your GCSEs would preferably be a design technology subject.

Assessment
  • Maths – 100% exam based assessment
  • Product design – 50% exam based assessment, 50% portfolio based assessment
  • BTEC Engineering - continuous assessment of each unit through a variety of methods such as practical assessments, online tests and producing a personal portfolio of evidence.
Progression

Upon completion of the course you will have the potential to continue your study to a higher level at Nottingham College, go on to study a degree course at university or follow a higher apprenticeship route into industry.
