Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process (Level 4) — Part-time

Course outline

Previously known as V1, this course is designed for those who maintain the quality of assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre. You’ll be able to develop your skills, gain underpinning knowledge and demonstrate competence in the workplace to help you progress in your career.

The course consists of the following units:

  • Unit 4: understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
  • Unit 5: internally assure the quality of assessment

NCFE Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process


There will be a three hour taught session every three weeks with a 'drop in session' two weeks later.

The dates of these sessions are:

February start (all 3.30pm - 6.30pm):

  • Monday 28th February
  • Monday 21st March
  • Monday 9th May
  • Monday 6th June
  • Monday 20th June
Level Level 4
Entry requirements

You will need:

  • Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Workplace or equivalent (D32/ A1)
  • 2 practicing assessors
  • Access to a qualified or experienced IQA to countersign
Teaching & assessment

You’ll be assessed continuously over the course via a portfolio of evidence including products of work, observation and an assignment.


You may progress to the Certificate in Leading Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process and Practice.
