Introduction to Working in Hospitality — Part-time

Course outline

This introductory course is for current ESOL students studying at Entry 3 or above and provides an overview of the hospitality industry, its growth and development, industry segments and their distinguishing characteristics, trends and current concerns.

You will be introduced to career diverse opportunities and employability skills needed to succeed in specific hospitality fields.

On this course, you will learn:

  • How to identify departments and duties of various positions within the hospitality industry.
  • The policies, regulations and public agencies pertaining to the hospitality Industry.
  • Enhancing effective communication skills needed in the hospitality industry.
  • How to find jobs in the hospitality industry.
  • Employability skills needed in the hospitality industry.

This course is delivered by an ESOL tutor, and is targeted at current ESOL students studying at Entry 3 and above.

Teaching & assessment

Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will be required to complete a short workbook and encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course.
