Have you always wished that you could treat your friends and family to a well-earned massage after a hard day at work or a difficult week?

Most of the sessions will be practical, and by the end of the course, you will be able to safely carry out a seated massage routine of the head, neck and shoulders on your friends and family.

  • How to give a simple massage routine
  • The benefits and therapeutic effects of massage
  • When not to massage
  • Simple anatomy of the relevant areas
  • Relaxation techniques

Please note that this course will not qualify you to become a professional therapist or to practice on the public.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements however you should be comfortable working with others to enable you to carry out a basic massage and have a good standard of written and spoken English.

Assessment

Tutors will give verbal and written feedback. You will be required to complete a short workbook and encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course.

Progression

There may be opportunities to progress onto other courses both in the community and at Nottingham College sites. The course tutor can discuss appropriate opportunities if you wish to further your learning in this subject area.
