Course outline

On this course you will cover a range of techniques including sewing, knitting, and crochet enabling you to work on several mini projects in each technique to learn a number of different skills.

Sewing skills covered will include applique techniques, making a simple bag with a lining and inserting a zip. Knitting skills will cover casting on and off, knitting and purling plus increasing and decreasing. Crochet techniques will cover chains, double, half treble and treble crochet, increasing and decreasing and making granny squares.

Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will be encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course

By attending the course you will have increased your knowledge, skills and understanding to help you move on and take up further opportunities open to you.

Your tutor will discuss progression opportunities with you at the final session as part of the course evaluation. These may include other community courses, employability skills courses, volunteering opportunities and progression onto other Nottingham College courses.

Additional information

Sewing machines are provided but you will need to bring along your own basic sewing equipment including threads, scissors, tape, pins, and tailors chalk.
