Pattern Cutting (ABC Level 2 Certificate) - Part-time

Course outline

Whether you are already working within the fashion industry and want to improve your skills or you would like to be able to produce unique, well fitted bespoke garments, this course will teach you the principles and techniques of pattern construction.

You will learn:

  • Drafting, construction and fitting of a range of basic blocks from measurements
  • A portfolio of pattern adaptations for style
  • The selection of appropriate fabrics based on an understanding of textile fibres and fabric structures
  • The production of three full scale patterns to your own designs

You can expect to develop the practical skills and understanding of a range of pattern cutting and garment construction techniques, working in a well equipped workshop environment and with the support of expert tutors.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification however Level 1 ABC Award/Certificate in ABC Fashion and Textiles and/or sewing experience would be preferable.


Assessment is continuous with a portfolio of coursework internally assessed and externally moderated.


You could progress into employment or further full/part-time study.
