This course will interest you if you have a business idea and want to start a business. It will teach you how to explore and research the business market to create a professional business plan.

Topics include:

  • The structure and importance of a business plan
  • Conduct market research to understand the needs of the market area
  • Estimate the financial needs of a business to budget and make decisions
  • Plan and monitor cash flow forecasts
  • Be aware of the legal requirements for a small business
  • Understand marketing principles and how to create a marketing plan

There are no formal entry requirements but a good standard of English is required.

Teaching & assessment

Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will be required to complete an Individual learning plan (ILPs) encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course.

Progression

There may be opportunities to progress onto other courses both in the community and at Nottingham College centres. The course tutor can discuss appropriate opportunities for learners wishing to further their learning in this subject area.
