Public Services

If you would like a challenging yet rewarding career in a uniformed services role within the armed forces, emergency services, security or prison services, you've come to the right place.

At Nottingham College, you’ll receive all the expert knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an exhilarating job of your choice.

Studying any one of our high quality courses means that you will get an outstanding introduction into the skills and disciplines needed to enter your desired profession and make your mark. Our courses focus on active learning, so you’ll develop practical skills, such as orienteering, while improving your personal fitness and taking part in community work.

You'll also have the great opportunity to gain hands-on practical skills and experiences through our courses. Recent examples of activities that our students have got involved in include police riot training and public order training, police role play, training with the army, visits to fire stations and a wide range of outdoor and adventure training.

On top of all this, you’ll learn loads with our teaching staff who have bags of experience. Many are in fact former service men and women, who are passionate about supporting our students to fulfil their career goals. They aim to create realistic experiences on our courses, just like those you’d find when working in the sector.

There’ll also be many opportunities for you to get involved in projects, where you can do things your own way. For example, our uniformed services students lead on the College’s Poppy Appeal each year, as well as taking part in sponsored adventure activities.

If you’re interested in getting fitter whilst having fun, you can also join one of the College’s Sport Academies.
