The HND Public Services is designed to help develop the skills needed in public service management, both uniformed and non-uniformed.
These include, for example, HM Armed Forces, Revenues and Customs, the Emergency Services, Prison Service and the charity and voluntary sectors.
The emphasis is on developing leadership, team-building, communication and organisation skills.
The course will provide insight and understanding into the wide range of roles within public services, recognising the importance of collaboration at all levels and to equip students with knowledge and understanding of multi-facetted societies and organisation, cross-cultural issues, and an appreciation of diversity and core values.

On successful completion of the HND, you could progress to further study, such as our BA (Hons) Top-up courses in Service Sector Management or Business Studies, both validated by Nottingham Trent University. Other similar BA Top-up courses are available, subject to the provider’s entry requirements, such as: BA (Hons) Public Services, BA (Hons) Public Services Management and BA (Hons) Uniformed and Public Services.
Alternatively, you will be well-placed to pursue a career in a range of uniformed and non-uniformed public services roles. Each of the services have their own entry routes, which you will learn about during the course to help you to decide your next steps.
