Sewing Machine and Hand Sewing Skills - Part-time

Course outline

This course is perfect if you have a love of pattern, colour, texture and making.

You will learn how to use a sewing machine and hand embroidery to make a patchwork throw.

You will also learn:

  • How to make a simple patchwork block
  • Hand embroidery skills
  • Running stitch
  • Over stitch
  • Blanket stitch
  • French knots
  • Chain stitch
  • Hand stitch patchwork to make two blocks towards the quilt
  • Reverse patchwork to make two blocks towards the quilt

Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will be required to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course.
