Sketching Local Landscapes - Part-time
Course outline
This course aims to provide an opportunity for students with an interest in landscape to develop their sketching skills by working from direct observation outside as much as possible, weather permitting.
We use the venue garden and nearby parkland and University of Nottingham park, easily accessible by tram/bus from the venue. If wet we will draw/paint from sketches/photos inside. We will use a range of media and techniques and several finished sketches will be produced. Reference will be made to the work of past and contemporary artists.
Topics include:
- Sketching skies, trees, vegetation, water, gardens, parklands, lakes
- Sketching with various media, eg pencil, pens, watercolour, mixed media and using resists e.g. wax, crayons
