This course is perfect if you want to embark on a career in the sport, leisure or fitness industry. This is a practical, hands-on qualification designed to prepare you for employment in the sport, fitness and leisure industry.
You’ll learn about a range of different sports and about the many career options within the sport and leisure industry. The focus of the course is on sports leadership and includes building a portfolio of evidence with external exams as part of the assessment structure.
You can expect practical lessons at our Basford campus and a range of external sport facilities in Nottingham. We have excellent links with local sports facilities and local professional sports teams to maximise your study opportunities. You’ll get to enjoy learning and playing sport in a fun and friendly environment with experienced coaches and tutors.

Pearson BTEC Level 2 Technical Diploma in Sport and Activity Leaders
You’ll need 4 GCSEs at grades 9–3 (A*–D), including English Language and Maths – one of English Language or Maths must be grade 9–4 (A*–C). Functional Skills Level 1 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 3 (D) and Functional Skills Level 2 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 4 (C) or above.
You will be assessed throughout the course including; practical tasks, fitness tasks and projects. You will also be asked to support these tasks with a record of evidence.
Choose to follow with a Level 3 programme in one of Nottingham College’s exciting sports pathways or you could also apply for one of the many apprenticeships available through Nottingham College. Alternatively you could seek employment within a wide range of roles in the sport, fitness and leisure industry.
