Summer Ceramics — Skills For Beginners — Part-time
Course outline
If this is a creative area you have wanted to try, this is your opportunity to learn introductory ceramic skills.
Working in our well-resourced ceramics department, you will be guided through the main hand-building techniques of pinching, coiling, slabbing using different clay bodies and try throwing on the wheel. Alongside this, you will be introduced to a few different decorative processes using coloured slips.
The course is limited to 14 spaces – due to resources.
Under the guidance and support of your tutor, the aim is for you to build a good foundation of skills and knowledge and understand the importance of safe studio practice so you gain confidence.
You will receive an induction to the ceramic studio, excellent tutor guidance, new skills resulting in finished outcomes – glazed and unglazed – available to collect at a later date.
You can view the fantastic creative works of our students on our Creative Showcase website below.
