Volunteering to Support English Language Teaching and Learning (Level 1 Award) — Part-time
Course outline
This course is perfect if you would like to volunteer in an ESOL classroom, and you would like to understand how to support ESOL students with low literacy to learn English as a second language and develop their literacy skills.
You will learn to:
- Support English language teaching and learning in the ESOL classroom
- Understand safeguarding and confidentiality in the classroom
- Recognise some of the challenges and issues that English language students have
- Support ESOL students in college and to help them to understand life in the UK
You will weekly classes for 30 weeks after a DBS check and have the opportunity to volunteer in ESOL classrooms at the Adams Building. Volunteering opportunities may be available in low literacy adult classes and 16–18-year old classes.
