Course outline

The focus of this course is to learn basic hand weaving techniques on a hand loom in order to create a woven wall hanging.

The course is aimed at beginner weavers who want to learn the basics of weaving. We will be learning basic weaving techniques and using a variety of materials to create a woven wall hanging.

On this course, you will:

  • Learn basic weaving techniques using a hand loom
  • Learn how to set up a hand loom and the equipment for weaving
  • Practice with yarns of different thicknesses and materials
  • Create their own woven wall hanging

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but you must be aged 19+ and have a good standard of spoken and written English as you will be required to complete a mandatory course workbook (Individual Learning Plan) each week, with the support of your course tutor.

Teaching & assessment

Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will be required to complete a short workbook and encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course.
