The construction skills hub is located on the Wates ‘City Hub’ site in the heart of Nottingham is helping to train long-term unemployed and people who are looking to make a career change in to the industry.
The Construction Skills Hub is helping to address the skills shortage in the Nottingham construction industry.
Led by CITB and funded by the Department for Education, this helps support local people overcome their barriers to employment within construction by offering free bespoke training.
The Construction Skills Hub is designed to help local talent access the jobs in the local construction industry whilst also helping employers address current skills shortages.

By attracting local construction talent who wish to access the latest opportunities, we work with individuals to overcome their barriers to employment. These could include:
- Gaining CSCS cards
- Having contacts in the local industry
- Providing work experience opportunities if they are coming from an alternative industry
- Supporting under-represented groups in accessing job within the construction industry
- CV and interview support
Training packages are aligned to the employment opportunities in the local area to ensure entrants are able to access the jobs available to them.
When individuals are considered site-ready, the Construction Skills Hub team will work with them to apply for your current vacancies.

If you are looking to get into the construction industry but lack the necessary skills or are struggling to find the latest vacancies, then we can help.
A wide variety of courses are available to help target specific groups including people who are unemployed, females wishing to enter the construction market or those looking to change their career. There is something for everyone!
The courses are focused on identifying your individual barriers to employment and the on-site team will help work with you to design an action plan and a suite of training tailored to you in order to ensure you are site ready. If required, this can include work experience opportunities to help build your CV or to introduce you to a network of people within the industry.
The team can then work with you to secure sustainable employment opportunities whether this is on a fixed term or permanent basis or via an apprenticeship. We have job opportunities to suit all needs!
