A Warm College Welcome - 17 June - 9 July 2021

This last year has been a tough one…for so many reasons. Whilst we have kept open, and kept our campuses safe, for our current students, we’ve been unable to welcome you, as a new student, onto our sites to visit us.

The time has come to once again open our doors and say a warm welcome to applicants hoping to join us this September!

A series of Welcome Events throughout June and July will give applicants the chance to tour their campus, meet their tutors, check out their course resources and facilities and get to know fellow classmates. There will be additional advice and information available too, such as information about student finance and enrolment.

We recognise that you’ll be keen to come and pay us a visit before enrolling later this summer. These events are a fantastic opportunity for you to come and get to know us, and us you!

To help us keep you safe you must book your visit. We won’t be able to accept you onto campus without a booking but don’t worry…securing a place on one of our sessions is really easy. Please only book onto the event if you can definitely attend – places are limited on a first come first served basis.

As long as you have an offer of a place with us for a applicable full-time course, you can log into your college account and book onto one of the sessions available to you. If you have applied to more than one course, you will receive an invitation to attend a session for each course you have an offer for.

You will have received an email invitation too.

Each event has multiple sessions, most last an hour, with a few of our creative courses asking for a little more of your time.

About our welcome to college events

What are these events for?

These events will provide an opportunity for you to come onto campus to meet your tutors and see the facilities where you will be studying. You will find out more about the college, the course you have applied for, what support is available and next steps before you start your college course in September.

When are these events taking place?

From Thursday 17th June – Friday 9th July 2021. You can view the full event timetable above.

Who can attend these events?

If you have applied for a relevant full-time course and have received a conditional offer of a place for September, then you will be eligible to attend. The events are invitation only and you can only book/attend if you have received an email invitation from us.

How do I book onto the event?

You will be sent an email to the email address you used to submit your application. Follow the steps on the email by logging into your student portal and selecting the ‘Welcome to College’ event that corresponds with the course and level that you have applied for. Please only book onto the event if you can definitely attend – places are limited on a first come first served basis so please book straight away if you can make it.

What Covid protocols will we have to follow?

We are still taking Covid-19 very seriously at Nottingham College. We recommend that you bring and wear a face mask/covering whilst in our communal areas where social distancing is not possible. We will provide hand sanitiser on arrival and we have limited numbers to avoid large crowds of people.

What if I can’t attend?

This will not affect your application to the college. We would prefer you to attend, however we understand that you may already have a prior engagement which cannot be changed. We will be in contact to invite you to enrol for your course which, depending on your age and your course choice, could be between July and September.

Do I need permission from my School to attend?

If your ‘Welcome to College’ session clashes with your School timetable, then please do seek permission from your teacher/head of year that it is okay for you to attend your College event. School staff can contact us for confirmation at events@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk.

Are there any other ‘Welcome to College’ events planned?

No, this is the only opportunity to attend a ‘Welcome to College’ event.

What happens next?

Once you have booked onto your event, you will be sent a reminder email a week beforehand detailing the time, date, location and any other information required.

Do I need to bring anything?

Your reminder email will detail if you need to bring anything along with you e.g. Sports or Dance kit as applicable.

Where do I go on the day?

Your confirmation and reminder email will have the address of the campus location. Please arrive at the main reception area 10 minutes prior to the start time of your ‘Welcome to College’ event. You will be met by one of the team to register you and direct you where to go.

Can I bring someone with me?

Given we are limiting numbers on campus due to ongoing covid restrictions, we would ask that only applicants who have booked attend. Please contact us directly if you need to bring someone with you and we will try and accommodate your request where possible. Email events@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk.

How long will the event last for?

All information regarding timings will be provided on your confirmation email. Most events will be 1 hour in length although a couple will be slightly longer (Art & Design and Performing Arts).

I have applied for multiple different courses and levels, which ‘Welcome to College’ event shall I go too?

If you have applied to more than one course, then you will be invited to the event relating to each of those courses. You are welcome to attend more than one, especially if are still unsure about which course to choose. All events will be different as they relate specifically to the course and campus you have applied for.

What happens after these events?

Your tutor will set any work that needs completing after these events and we will be in contact to invite you to enrol for your course from Mid-August – Early September.

I have another unanswered question about the ‘Welcome to College’ event, who can I contact?

Please direct any unanswered questions and queries to events@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk.
