Ladies' Football Academy

Ladies' Football Academy

At the start of the 2016/17 academic year, Nottingham College launched its ladies’ football academy.

Players that enrol on the academy will get two training sessions per week at Nottingham College’s Clifton Football Centre and will play in the highly competitive East Midlands Association of Colleges female football league. Players will also receive strength and conditioning support to help improve their game even more. Furthermore cup fixtures and high quality friendlies will be arranged.

The education programme will also be delivered at the Clifton campus and will involve students studying a Level 1, 2 or 3 sports qualification, as well as undertaking FA coaching badges, while also gaining vocational experience in refereeing, coaching and leadership.

Students will be able to progress from this course into work, university or even gain a scholarship to an American University.

The Ladies' Football Academy is coached by Graham Abercrombie who is an UEFA A Licence coach and has worked for a number of clubs such as West Bromwich Albion Ladies FC Manager - Honours: Premier League Champions, Birmingham County Cup Champions, Aston Villa Ladies FC Manager, Worcester City Ladies Manager - Honours: Midlands Premier League 1 Champions, Midlands Premier League Champions, Worcestershire and Herefordshire County Cup Champions x 2.

“I’m extremely happy to have been offered an opportunity to work with Nottingham College with their fantastic girl’s football program alongside my new role as Nottingham Forest Ladies manager.  It will be great to work with local girls, raise the profile of girl’s football in the area through the excellent work being done at the college and to ensure that there are some outstanding additional pathways to senior football at Nottingham Forest Ladies. Exciting times.”
