Connecting to the Nottingham College WiFi network on campus
Staff and students can connect to the “NottinghamCollege” wireless network while on campus for fast internet connectivity. You will need to use your staff or student login details to authenticate to the WiFI network. Depending on your mobile device, the instructions will differ.
Instructions for iPhone/iOS devices
Open Settings and tap WiFi.
Select the network “NottinghamCollege” from the list of WiFi networks.
A login box will appear, asking for your username and password, the following information will need to be entered.
Username: Your Nottingham College email address. For staff, this will be firstname.lastname@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk. For students, this will be your six-digit student number e.g. 123456@student.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk.
Password: This is your current Microsoft account password.
If you have entered the correct login information, another dialog box will appear asking you to trust the certificate which will be issued from prd-ise-01.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk, you may also be asked to trust another certificate from prd-ise-02.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk. You will need to trust these certificates to connect to the WiFi network.
Instructions for Android devices
Open Settings and find the Connections option. Alternatively, you can search “Wi-Fi” in the search bar.
Turn on the Wi-Fi option if not already on and select "NottinghamCollege" from the list
A login box will appear with the following:
Identity: This is your Nottingham College email address. For staff, this will be firstname.lastname@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk. For students, this will be your six-digit student number e.g. 123456@student.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk.Password: This is your current Microsoft account password.
CA Certificate: This must be set to Don't Validate.
You can now tap the Connect button.
iOS and Android devices will randomise the MAC address as a privacy feature. This feature will cause you to frequently need to reconnect to the NottinghamCollege WiFI network because having a changing MAC address will mean your device will look like a new/different device each time it changes. You can turn this feature off to use your device's real MAC address, which does not rotate and will maintain a stable lease.
Note: If you are connecting a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) to the NottinghamCollege network, certain internal systems will not be available as they are deliberately blocked on non-college managed devices for security purposes.
