Elizabeth — Level 3 and HE Fashion

I now have more understanding on pattern drafting and manipulation, and have improved my CAD skills.

Fashion & Textiles student — Elizabeth

Mum-of-two Elizabeth came back to College to study a Level 3 Fashion Design course as a mature student.

She showcased her collection in an exciting catwalk show at the end of the course.

She has now completed the first year of her Fashion foundation degree at the College.

On her Level 3 course

I love the way the course has broadened my thinking of how to see fashion and textiles.

It was really interesting to learn technical knowledge about the textiles.

I’d recommend the course to parents going back to study. It’s very intense, but I feel it’s helped me in my next steps.

On the Fashion foundation degree

I appreciate the fact that it is a small group in my class, and I now have more understanding on pattern drafting and manipulation to achieve a style/design.

I got to work with stretch fabric and the machines used for stretch fabrics. That was a first! I’ve also definitely improved in computer aided design (CAD) using Photoshop and Illustrator for illustrations, mood boards, design development and technical drawings.
