Fern — Pre-16 (GCSEs)
I made some really good friends, and learnt about subjects I would have never even known about!
Fern, Pre-16 home educated GCSE programme —
Fern enjoyed her home schooling, but when she got to her early teens she and her mum decided to look into qualifications. This was to prepare Fern for a higher level of study in the future.
They found the pre-16 home educated course options at Nottingham College and Fern joined the College, going on to complete her GCSEs. Now, she’s moved on to our High Pavement Sixth Form! We asked Fern about her experience of the pre-16 course.
What did you like about the pre-16 course?
“One thing that I really liked was how much the tutors helped shape me as a person. I was on a pre-16 programme for three years, aged between 13 – 16, and it was really valuable to me to gain knowledge and wisdom from all of the tutors.
“I learnt about subjects I would have never even known about, and it is the very reason that I am doing the A Levels I am today.”
How about making friends?
“I also made some really good friends on the course, some of who I am now really close to. I have probably made some lifelong friends at college, which is really nice, too.”
How about helping you progress to sixth form?
“The tutors couldn’t do enough for me in order to get me onto my chosen A Levels this year!”
Overall, would you recommend the pre-16 course?
“Yes, I would recommend the pre-16 course as it was a way for me to gain necessary qualifications that I needed, in a way that suited me, my needs and my circumstances.
“It was also an opportunity to make friends and expand my social circle, as well as develop as a person.
“Also, I found it really useful to have the online college resources, as it meant that I could access all lesson material, even when I wasn’t actually in college.”
