My life-long goal is to become a boxer and I feel it’s important to gain a qualification and aim higher, to give me the best shot of succeeding.Makai — Sports Coaching —
Talented amateur boxer, Makai, is using his Level 3 Sports Coaching course to help him reach his goal of becoming a professional boxer.
Makai, 18, started boxing at the age of 16, as a hobby at first, but after recently winning his first two amateur bouts by technical knockout, he now has high hopes of becoming a regional champion in the future. He said:
“Boxing has been so beneficial for me and my mental health. It’s not all about strength and aggression. You have to be willing to work hard and be dedicated if you want to go far, and it’s great for self-confidence, discipline, and mental and physical strength.”
The Level 3 Sports Coaching course is based at our Basford campus and is perfect if you enjoy sport and want to develop your skills and knowledge ready for a career in the sport, leisure or fitness industries. Makai hopes to secure a scholarship at university to progress further.
