Apprenticeship outline

You’ll earn a wage while gaining an industry-standard qualification. It’s a great way to train as a dispensing assistant so you can support pharmacists.

We will teach you all the essential elements needed to carry out the role of a pharmacy assistant.

You’ll gain two work-related qualifications while working full-time. There will be mandatory and optional units and the options you pick will be relevant to your own job.

The course also covers personal learning and thinking skills as well as employee rights and responsibilities.

Entry requirements
  • You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a relevant job but we can assist you in finding a placement.
  • You will also need 5 GCSEs at grades A* to C/9 to 4 or equivalent including English Language, Maths and Science. Some employers may require additional qualifications depending on the role.

Adults who are aged 19+ with appropriate industry experience but without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

All applicants will be required to undertake an assessment in English and maths prior to enrolling.

  • The NVQ element is assessed in the workplace
  • The BTEC is assessed by assignments
  • Advanced Apprenticeship - Pharmacy Services
  • Employment as a Pharmacy Assistant
