Mikolaj — Level 3 Applied Science (Biomedical)

The BTEC is a very technical course which I like. I think that’s what makes it so different to other academic courses.

Mikolaj — Level 3 Applied Science (Biomedical) student

Mikolaj is in the second year of his Level 3 Applied Science (Biomedical) course here at Nottingham College. When he’s completed the course he would like to either join the Army to become a combat medic, or do a medical apprenticeship to become a paramedic.

He said: I’ve always loved science since I was a child, and my dad was a chemist which also played a part in my decision to study science. The BTEC is a very technical course which I like. I think that’s what makes it so different to other academic courses. I really enjoy chemistry, particularly the experiments and the practical aspects of it all.

For my latest biomedical pathway at College we’re studying organic chemistry, which is going to be so useful when I begin training in medical care.

The tutors are extremely helpful and will expressly go out of their way to help you. If you’re interested in science, this is definitely the course for you.”
