Nottingham College’s School Liaison team is dedicated to raising awareness of post-16 opportunities and promoting the benefits of further education to KS3 and KS4 students via a number of free services.
Completely tailored to your needs, these presentations can involve an overview of further education, the benefits and choices available as well as what to do next. Presentations involve interactive elements to engage students in their future. Feedback from teachers and students is routinely excellent, coming away feeling well informed with a solid understanding of the importance and breadth of post-16 education. These sessions can fit in to your calendar wherever appropriate; as assemblies, full lessons, ‘opt-ins’ during social time or even after school.
- Year 9 – Linking skills with careers and choosing GCSE options
- Year 10 – An overview of careers and the pathways that are available after school
- Year 11 – A clear understanding of Post 16 pathways available and the application process and interview techniques
Held at our Nottingham College campuses across the city, interactive taster sessions give students the opportunity to experience the college setting as well as a chance to go hands on with a range of exciting subjects. If we offer a vocational course in it, students can give it a try. These are available to small groups with similar interests, larger groups or even whole year groups as either a full or half day. Whatever your needs, we can arrange a bespoke day at one or more of our campuses.
We can also provide external tasters on site at your school for a number of our subject areas.
We can provide an in-depth campus tour, showing students our fantastic facilities and comprehensive courses. There will be chances to chat to lecturers and students to get the full story on any course that interests them.
The School Partnerships team can be on hand at your event to offer information regarding opportunities available at Nottingham College, helping your students and their parents explore options. At your request, we can also arrange for specific subject staff to accompany us with interactive stalls.
We visit schools to deliver support on a number of transition topics outside of simply awareness of FE. To help students prepare for college, apprenticeships or work, the team can deliver sessions based around developing CVs, personal statements, interview techniques and revision skills. We can be on hand to assist your mock interview day, or set up a day like this for you at one of our campuses for the full authentic experience.
The team can also provide impartial IAG for individual students you have identified. We can come in for one to one or group interviews or drop in sessions and put together an action plan for them. We know how big a job it is to ensure all students in your cohort have a destination when they leave you, so with this in mind, if you have any students you need additional support with at any point during the year, give us a call and we will do everything we can to assist.
How to book a session
Feel free to contact us if you would like to arrange an informal chat about the support we can offer to your KS3/KS4 students in terms of activities and interventions to introduce FE options and the skills that they will require in the very near future! We are more than happy to either meet at your school or host you at one of our Nottingham College campuses.
