Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Multi-Skilled Operator Maintainer Technician Production team working at our well-established site at Spondon, Derby.

Reporting to a Production Shift Manager this Shift Based Operator role is primarily a Production Operator position with 1st response maintenance activities as well as supporting the maintenance team with planned maintenance activities during shutdowns.

Initially you will shadow an experienced operator on shifts learning how to operate our production equipment 1st and foremost and will eventually be involved in basic repair work and eventually supporting maintenance activities during machine outages.

The key responsibilities and daily tasks will include:

  • Maintain a Safe Working Environment by following all site HSE practices i.e. permit to work system etc.
  • Able to assist with ‘Incident Control’ i.e. fire evacuations.
  • Operating Production Equipment efficiently; meeting KPI’s and following all production procedures and documentation.
  • Direct and Lead Production staff in the event of an equipment breakdown as well as first response maintenance activities.
  • Carries out effective handovers to Maintenance Engineers & Production Management where repair work spans shifts.
  • Works to improve machine OEE and feeds back on losses effectively.
  • Able to safely undertake Isolations of Machinery and Processes in preparation for maintenance works.
  • Uses CMMS system to accurately record completed works and raise work requests for the wider maintenance team to follow.
  • Suggests and manages improvement activities within the production area to the point of completion.
  • Assist with planned maintenance of Production Machinery.
