If you would like a career as a health support worker then this apprenticeship could be for you.

You will work towards units within the Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care as well as completing the Care certificate which will meet the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the new apprenticeship standards.

You will focus your practice around 4 main skills which are:

  • Communication
  • Health Intervention
  • Personal and people development
  • Health, Safety and Security

Framework/standard

Healthcare - Healthcare Support Worker - Level 2

Duration

15 months

Level Level 2
Entry requirements

You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a relevant job but we can assist you in finding a placement

You will also need 4 GCSEs at grades 9 to 3/A* to D or equivalent including English Language and Maths. Some employers may require additional qualifications depending on the role

Adults who are aged 19+ with appropriate industry experience but without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

All applicants will be required to undertake an assessment in English and maths prior to enrolling.

Assessment

Your knowledge, skills and behaviours will be continuously assessed within the standard and once you are competent in these areas you will sit an End Point Assessment.

The end point assessment includes the following components:

  • A multiple choice test
  • An observation of practice undertaken in your workplace
  • An evidence portfolio which you will complete with an interview.
