Whether you want to work with adults with disabilities or health problems, or those needing other types of support, our health and social care courses will give you the knowledge and experience to carve out a career in the growing and rewarding care sector.

If you already have experience in this sector, you can improve your job prospects by building on your existing qualifications, by using your experience and knowledge to gain a formal qualification. 

You’ll benefit from fantastic facilities at either our Basford or City Hub campuses. Most courses include work experience and we have many links with local hospitals, voluntary organisations and care homes. Our teaching staff have extensive and current industry experience and offer a supportive learning environment. We also work closely with the area’s top employers, including Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. 

After completing your course you can choose to go into employment with the skills you’ve learned, or to progress onto a university-level course.

There are lots of different roles in health and social care depending on what you want to do, who you want to work with and where you’d like to work. For example, you could be supporting someone with a physical disability, autism, dementia or a mental health condition. Or you could be working in a care home, out in your local community, in a hospital or from someone’s home.

Plus, there are a vast number of career options in the industry – whether you would like to be an Ambulance Technician, Care Assistant, Environmental Health Worker, Midwife, Nurse, Nursery Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Paramedic, Radiographer, Residential Warden, Social Services Officer, Speech/Language Therapist, Support Worker – there are many choices available to you.

  • The Health Sector employs 1.7 million people in England.
  • The number of adult social care jobs is expected to grow to around 2.6 million by 2025.
  • In 2021 there were 1.21 million full time equivalent (FTE) staff working for the NHS.
