News: Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week

Please note: This news story may contain information that is no longer current or up to date.

4 – 8 March is National Apprenticeship Week and Nottingham College offers a wide range of apprenticeships with a constant stream of over 100 vacancies, locally and nationally waiting to be filled in areas such as automotive, construction, engineering, hairdressing, health sciences and sport and leisure amongst others.

The College’s strong links with employers mean we can offer students apprenticeships at major organisations such as Nottingham City Council, Kia, Ikea, Freeths and Nottingham City Homes. Actively working with around 2500 employers to understand the needs of the local and regional economy, Nottingham College also offers training programmes and apprenticeships that support the upskilling of employees to promote economic growth and prosperity in Nottinghamshire.

Maxine Blake, Head of Industries at Nottingham College says:

Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to continue your learning and development once in employment and are available for anyone aged 16 – 64. With the introduction of apprenticeship standards this means there are apprenticeship opportunities available from level 2 all the way up to level 7 in varying disciplines, making this a great option for existing staff to develop whilst on the job. Staff are able to apply the content they learn to everyday situations, therefore enhancing their learning experience. The College offers a range of higher level apprenticeships such as laboratory scientist level 5, leadership and management at level 3 and 5 and coming soon we will be offering associate project manager level 4 and engineering level 4

Maxine Blake — Head of Industries at Nottingham College

We will be holding a special open evening at our Basford campus on Wednesday 3 April from 4.30 – 7.00pm for people thinking about an apprenticeship. This is a fantastic opportunity to speak to our dedicated apprenticeship team and some of the biggest local businesses about the types of apprenticeship roles that are available. Interested? Book your place now.
