Engineering is a hugely evolving area. There are a lots of routes for aspiring engineers to take their first steps into the field, and Nottingham College can help get you there. 

As Nottingham’s largest college we offer the widest range of choice for school leavers in the region. Our huge range of courses, outstanding student support, state-of-art facilities and fantastic student community mean you are perfectly placed to take your next steps, whatever you choose. 

Home to our engineering and technology courses, Highfields is located in Nottingham’s Science Park and houses a wealth of state-of-the-art facilities that go beyond classrooms. Students who study here have access to our STEM Centre, specialist training technology and fabrication, welding and robotics workshops. 

As the region’s most established provider of automotive training, there is no better place to start your career in the motor industry. 

At London Road we have workshops that are fully equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment and technology — to ensure our students have the most up to-date industry knowledge and hands-on experience with the kit used by motor industry professionals.

Reuben and Randall have been getting Future Ready by working on a live brief. Our engineering students worked in collaboration with the Canal and River Trust and The Stroke Association to design and install an accessible bench on the canal towpath in Nottingham. 

We offer a clear progression route on your journey to becoming a qualified engineer, with support from staff with specialist industry experience. As well as General Engineering, we offer qualifications in a number of sector areas including Automotive, Electrical, Fabrication, Welding, Manufacturing and Creative engineering.

A key component of our courses is providing real industry experience to our students, who from the start of their studies begin learning the skills they need for careers in their chosen fields. 

Our students, along with staff from our Engineering department have been working in our Engineering Centre of Excellence at our Highfields Campus, producing 3D printed concepts of the designs, and are working in collaboration with stroke survivors to bring their visions of an accessible bench to life.
