Considering a career in engineering or the automotive industry? We still have spaces left on some courses and there is still time to join us!

Engineering is a hugely evolving area. There are a lots of routes for aspiring engineers to take their first steps into the field, and Nottingham College can help get you there.

As Nottingham’s largest college we offer the widest range of choice for school leavers in the region. Our huge range of courses, outstanding student support, state-of-art facilities and fantastic student community mean you are perfectly placed to take your next steps, whatever you choose.

A dedicated campus in the heart of Nottingham’s Science Park

Home to our engineering and technology courses, Highfields is located in Nottingham’s Science Park and houses a wealth of state-of-the-art facilities that go beyond classrooms. Students who study here have access to our STEM Centre, specialist training technology and fabrication, welding and robotics workshops.

Looking to start a career in the motor industry? We have our own automotive centre!

As the region’s most established provider of automotive training, there is no better place to start your career in the motor industry.

At London Road we have workshops that are fully equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment and technology - to ensure our students have the most up to-date industry knowledge and hands-on experience with the kit used by motor industry professionals.

We still have spaces left on some motor vehicle courses and you can simply turn up and enrol tomorrow at our City Hub campus.

The best people to tell you about life at college are our students! See how engineering students like Fiorella, former student Sorria, and apprentice Liam have kick-started their engineering careers at Nottingham College and how you can too!

Fiorella is kick-starting her engineering career

Fiorella is originally from Venezuela, and moved to Nottingham with her family in 2017. She completed Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations with us before progressing onto a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering and is now in her second year. When Fiorella has completed her course she hopes to progress to university to study robotics.

A huge variety of engineering, technology and STEM based courses

We offer a clear progression route on your journey to becoming a qualified engineer, with support from staff with specialist industry experience. As well as General Engineering, we offer qualifications in a number of sector areas including Automotive, Electrical, Fabrication, Welding, Manufacturing and Creative engineering.

Former student Sorria used her course to progress onto a degree in Mechanical Engineering at a local university.

After university Sorria got a job as a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer at Nottingham based LAC Conveyors and Automation.

My advice for anyone thinking of pursuing a STEM subject further would be to go for it! There’s so much that you’re able to do with an engineering qualification and it’s continually evolving. If you enjoy subjects such as science, technology, maths and enjoy coming up with real-world solutions, then engineering could definitely be for you.

- Sorria Douglas

It's not too late to join us!

If you haven’t applied yet there is still time - we have spaces left on some of our engineering courses (full details here).

You can turn up and enrol in person at our City Hub Campus on Saturday 11th September between 10am-1pm.

Apprenticeships and Industry Experience

We work with some of the leading names in the industry, including Boots PLC, Reckitt Benckiser and ZF Services UK Ltd, as well as one of the country’s leading universities, the University of Nottingham.

If you want to earn whilst you learn why not consider an apprenticeship? You can study towards nationally recognised qualifications, and earn a wage at the same time -just like Liam, who is an engineering apprentice at Boots UK with Nottingham College. In the video below he talks about life as an apprentice:

We update our apprenticeship vacancies throughout the year so remember to check back regularly to apply for the latest roles available.
