National Colleges Week is back from the 26th February to 1 March, and is an annual celebration of the incredible work colleges do across the country.

This year’s focus is on influencing, engaging, and celebrating ahead of the mayoral and general elections and we’re excited to be supporting the campaign throughout the week!

Colleges like ours and the work we do with employers and our communities help to tackle skills shortages which in turn grow our economy. There’s also lots of other ways we encourage our students and college community to engage with politics too.

Throughout the week we’ll be showcasing the ways our students have engaged with local MP’s and political figures to facilitate discussions about the issues that are important to them now and in the future, how we are working with the BBC to give our media students a behind the scenes look at the world of politics reporting and how social action has become integral to our students’ timetables. We are also engaging with other colleges to share our students voices on what matters to them and highlighting the ways our learners and staff got involved when we were the proud hosts of the first Mayoral Hustings at the start of the year.

It’s only with government backing that we can continue making a difference to individuals, businesses, and society, so whoever the next government is, we want to make sure they are focussed on ensuring colleges play an even bigger role in an inclusive, tolerant, welcoming, strong society and a growing and productive economy.

Join us and get behind the campaign! Keep a look out on our social channels and get involved using the hashtag #LoveOurColleges and remember to tag us too.
