Congratulations to all of our Level 3 Media Makeup students that participated in the AHT Regional Competition and Morgan Chambers for getting through to the finals.

Some of our Level 3 Media Makeup students participated in the AHT Regional Competition in Blackpool, accompanied by Media Makeup Lecturer Kim Barrow.

The Association of Hairdressers & Therapists are a group of hairdressing teachers as a national network of like-minded specialists who exchanged good practice and support. They hold student competitions that are held annually at regional and national level.

A special congratulations to Morgan Chambers, one of the students competing, who came 3rd place for her editorial red-carpet design and has automatically been put through to the finals in May.

When Morgan was preparing for the competition she created a look for the category Editorial Old Hollywood’ but was surprised when she got to the competition and saw the category she was competing in was Editorial Red Carpet’. After being slightly thrown off, she realised her look would still work and got to working on her model.

Morgan Chambers, Level 3 Media Makeup student who is through to the finals in May, spoke about how she felt when she found out she came 3rd.

Morgan Chambers with her 3rd place certificate

Everyone cheered for me and as I walked back I choked up because after all of the stress and the hard work, I got myself into the Nationals. Everybody was so happy for me and proud which made me emotional because I tend to have no confidence in myself, my abilities or my skills. I want to thank my tutor for always believing in me and seeing my abilities when I struggle to see them and when struggle with my confidence in everything.

The lecturer who supported the students involved, Kim Barrow — Media Makeup Lecturer said

I am very proud of what the students produced; they worked extremely well under pressure. Contests are a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves and bring out the fullest of their potential.

Kim Barrow — Media Makeup Lecturer

Mark Pawsley, the National Chair of the Association Of Hairdressers and Therapists said

A huge congratulations to all your students that gained a place in the finals. All your students behaved in an impeccable manner and were polite at all times. Reflecting on the event, it was great to see how the colleges’ heart is in the right place and how collaborative you all have been in supporting all the hair and beauty students to enter the competitions.

Mark Pawsley — National Chair of the AHT
