News: Media Jam 2024 – Industry Week

JAM
JAM logo web

This week (4th-8th March), our media students have had the opportunity to hear from over 15 industry experts! From poets, directors, videographers, marketing executives, a producer for the BBC and many more, they got to hear insights from the industry to give them inspiration for their futures.

The top professionals that attended have varying levels of insights based on their journeys, experience, and backgrounds within their fields. Students heard from a BBC producer with 40 years’ experience in journalism, Nottingham’s first Young Poet Laureate award winner, one of our very own Higher Education alumni who graduated this past year and is in the early stages of his career in sports photography for Getty Images.

The guest speakers also included some creative’s, local to Nottingham, who gave advice on how to get started to our students, and even some further afield like Toronto based video game developer to help our students visualise their potential.

Some are at the beginning of their journey, and some have been in the creative field for a long time, but all of them have knowledge, insights, and experience that our students can learn from.

The creative industries aren’t just about the big organisations. Self-employed entrepreneurs are a crucial part of the picture. Students can get inspiration and advice from local and national freelancers and small business owners, whose words could become the cornerstones of your future successes.
