News: Nottingham College hosts Nottingham City Business Club lunch

Sir John Peace was the guest speaker at a recent Nottingham City Business Club event held in the Adams Restaurant at Nottingham College.

Sir John spoke about the Nottinghamshire Lieutenancy, its role in representing the Crown, what it is aiming to achieve and the potential for the business community to be involved through initiatives like the Queens Awards.

As chairman of the Midlands Engine, Sir John also outlined how the Midlands Engine is responding to the Government’s Strategy for Growth, the Engine’s five priorities for investment that will enable the East Midlands to contribute to the UK’s Industrial Strategy and drive Britain’s post-Brexit growth. 

President of the club, Ian Roberts, said: ​“We were honoured to have Sir John attend. He was a great speaker attracting a large audience who heard in detail about the Nottinghamshire Lieutenancy and the Midlands Engine. Most importantly in highlighting the opportunities they create in supporting businesses and future investment to the area” 

“We are pleased that we were able to hold the event at Nottingham College too, which marks a change to our normal venue of the Park Plaza,” added Ian. ​“It gave the College’s catering and hospitality students the opportunity to showcase their talents and the club to forge stronger links with the college following John van de Laarschot, the CEO of Nottingham College, speaking at one of our events earlier in the year.” 

Nottingham City Business Club was established in 1924, with its membership comprising of senior representatives of the local business community.
