Earlier this month at Nottingham College we presented our first annual Staff Talent and Recognition – STAR – Awards as part of the now annual Staff Expo and Festival of Learning. It was an opportunity to let our colleagues know just how important they are to our College community.

The aim of the STAR Awards was to bring our strategic plan to life by celebrating the outstanding contributions and achievements of our colleagues during the 2018/19 academic year. We asked colleagues, students and external contacts and partners to identify the individuals, groups, teams, innovations and projects that have made a real difference to our College and its community throughout the academic year.

Over 300 individual nominations were received for staff from across the College which is a fantastic endorsement of the great practice which exists within our staff body.

Shortlisted nominees were invited to attend an informal Awards Ceremony and received a certificate of recognition, presented by CEO John van de Laarschot, a specially designed STAR Award pin badge and an Intu shopping voucher.

I was delighted to preside over Nottingham College’s first Staff Talent and Recognition or STAR awards which celebrated the outstanding contributions and achievements of our colleagues during the 2018/19 academic year. Approximately 300 nominations were received — a fantastic endorsement of the great practice which exists across the College. It was a tremendous privilege to hear about the great work our colleagues are doing to deliver excellence in education and employment in Nottingham and see how much they are respected and valued by their colleagues, our students and the wider community. Congratulations to all our winners and nominees.

John van de Laarschot — CEO
