News: Nottingham College students win Young Creative Awards 2023

10 winners plus a further 5 students were Highly Commended by the judges across a range of creative categories including Design and Architecture, Photography, Graphic Design, Fashion and Textiles, Visual Arts and Film. 

Kate Cooper, one of the winners in Visual Arts winner, in the 16 – 18 category, enjoys welding at home, but coming to college has allowed her to expand her knowledge, and make the most of industry standard facilities.

“Kate has showcased her terrific skills in welding and created a stunning sculpture using recycled materials.

Her artwork is not only impressive, but also playful and fun, demonstrating her creativity and passion. She’s an inspiring young artist.”

Another winner in the Fashion and Textiles category was Abigail Burr, in the 19 – 24 category. 

The judges said ​“Abigail’s work ambitiously combines a broad range of mediums and processess including sculpture, site specific installation, performance and photography.

The artist clearly demonstrates an ability to consider how their work can relate to places and people beyond the studio or formal gallery environment.”
