News: Start a career in engineering
Engineering is an ever-evolving field, ideal for those with technical minds. At Nottingham College, you can choose from general engineering or several sector areas, such as — Automotive, Welding, Manufacturing, Electrical, Fabrication, and Creative Engineering.
Our courses start from Level 1 with progression available through the levels up to HND (Higher National Diploma) at Level 5. We also offer a huge range of Apprenticeships which give you the opportunity to earn a salary at the same time!
Many of our engineering courses are based at our Highfields campus which is home to state-of-the-art equipment. If you study here, you’ll have access to large workshops, and electronic engineering equipment, like our Programmable Logic Controller and robotics training rigs. We also have amazing classroom technology which includes AutoCAD (Computer-Aided Design) and Solid Works design packages. We have also invested in 3D printing and scanning technology.

EMTEC, owned and managed by Nottingham College, is one of the leading providers in automotive training. Based in Ruddington, EMTEC is home to our professional training courses and apprenticeships. At EMTEC, you’ll have the opportunity to work with big names including Aston Martin, Tesla, Bentley, Ferrari, Genesis, Hyundai, Kia, and SsangYong.
Our automotive campus at London Road has everything you’ll need to build hands-on experience and you’ll be led by experienced motor professionals who will teach you everything you’ll need to know.
We offer a range of qualifications, from Entry 3 through to courses at Level 1, 2 and 3 that include the servicing and repair of electric and hybrid vehicles. These new skills and levels of technical knowledge are already opening more job opportunities for our students, with demand expected to continue to increase in the future.

Our courses are designed to give you a clear path from study to work. With ongoing support from staff with extensive experience in your chosen field, we will help you move from education into employment. You can choose to study in Automotive, Electrical, Fabrication, Welding, Manufacturing or Creative engineering. On completion, you will be awarded a relevant sector qualification. If you choose to, you can progress onto a higher qualification with us too.

Apprenticeships and Industry Experience
Apprenticeships are an excellent way to start your career. Not only can you earn whilst you learn, you will also be gaining practical experience that will help you secure your first job.
We work with leading names in the industry, including Boots PLC, ZF Services UK Ltd, Reckitt Benckiser. We also have opportunities available at The University of Nottingham.
