Career Pathways students at Nottingham College have been learning skills to set them up for further study and work, by arranging their own fundraiser event. The students chose a ‘love’ theme, and decided to make up some themed hampers and arrange a ticketed raffle at College.

The students ran a stall where they promoted the raffle and sold tickets. Some baked cakes and made decorations on the same theme. The project was a great success, as they raised £70 towards their end of year graduation celebrations.

Career Pathways courses at the College are designed to help develop personal and social skills alongside gaining a qualification and boosting employability.

The key areas of work in the enterprise project focused around being organised, budgeting skills, making plans, and writing letters for donations, which were all aimed at helping the students towards their future careers.

It was great to see the students exercising a range of skills, discussing ideas and approaches with their peers and College staff. I’m confident they’ll do more creative things in the future.
