News: Welcome Events at Nottingham College 2021

Please note: This news story may contain information that is no longer current or up to date.

We have had a thriving start to the year when a new academic term began on Monday 6th September and we welcomed 6000+ students back onto campus, after a much-needed summer break for many staff and learners. To celebrate their arrival and help them begin their Nottingham College journey, the college has been holding Welcome Events across campuses from 13th September, continuing to 6th October open to all of our students.

These events are carefully planned and tailored which will be held across our campuses over the next few weeks. Our newest campus in Nottingham City Centre, our City Hub held the first 3 days of events this week and they have seen hundreds of new and returning students begin and continue their journey with us.

These events allow students to learn about what a Nottingham College experience outside the classroom can offer, from enrichments like trips in and around Nottinghamshire, to joining a society and volunteering. It’s offering a chance to meet the Student Union Executive Team — who are elected students and also to learn what the Student Wellbeing Team offers our student body, in terms of Wellbeing and Safety.

The Welcome Events also see us invite external community partners and organisations who attend to inform students what they can offer them. This includes Nottinghamshire Community Police who are regularly seen around our City based campuses as a point of contact and local providers like Nottingham NET Trams and Volunteer organisations.

Speaking to the newly elected Student Union President Natalia Maziarz at the event she said:

I was recently elected and have been in the role of Student Union President for a couple of months. I’m looking forward to making a difference for our students and sharing their views, alongside studying for my GCSE’s.

Welcome Events are important as they let students make friends and try new things and it’s great to meet many new faces.
