News: Wellbeing blog — New SU, #GoTheDistance and new FIFA 20 league!
Welcome to the latest blog from our Student Wellbeing Team! We’ve got exciting Students’ Union news, enrichment activities and wellness tips.
Our new SU President and Vice-Presidents!
From 1st June to 5th June our students voted for they want to lead their Students’ Union from September. They will represent students who are continuing with us in September and new students that we will be welcoming to the College!
This year’s team have done a great job and we’re sure they will too!
Well done to everyone who was in the running and congratulations to new president Claire Brookes, Vice President of Further Education, Henry Icke, and Vice President of Higher Education: Katherine Harlow.
Our current students can read more about them on the student intranet, and we’ll bring you more from them on our website soon.
Enrichment has been busy!
In the last few weeks the lockdown activities have started to grow. We’ve had weekly quiz nights, online XBOX/PS4 games competitions, plus weekly mindfulness sessions and a Wellness Cafe run by our wellbeing coordinators. We’re also exploring other possible options like live exercise sessions, and workshops around things like healthy eating and lifestyle, and stress management.
We thought we’d share the current schedule so current students can see what they can get involved with, and potential students can see the sort of things we offer, even if they are a bit different to the usual on-campus activities at the moment!
Health and Wellbeing
We’ve recently launched our Wellness Cafes. They’re a safe space for everyone in the College to chat and share tips and ideas for looking after our wellbeing. They can also learn some coaching techniques that can help us through the rough patches.
We’ve looked at how you can use a tool known as the ‘Wheel of Life’ to stand back, take a look at the different areas of your life and how they measure up in terms of the impact on your happiness, health and wellbeing.
We’ve also looked at stress and ways to cope with it.
You can see more on the Student Wellbeing social channels.
To find out more about any of the activities, current students can visit the Wellbeing Hub on the student intranet or send a direct message to the Wellbeing Team though social media.
And finally...
We’re also preparing for Induction in September – if you’re a current student get in touch on the social channels below: “What bit of advice would you pass onto new students, that you wish you had known at the start of your time at College?” Let the Wellbeing Team know!
