News: Congratulations to Kayne Mather on winning the prestigious Cherry Grainger award!
We are celebrating the success of our alumnus and current Sous Chef at Fletcher’s, Kayne Mather, who has just received the prestigious Cherry Grainger prize awarded by the Worshipful Company of Cooks.
This news arrives just in time for Celebration Friday, part of National Apprenticeship Week, where we are highlighting the fantastic work our apprenticeships have led to.
Kayne completed his Level 1 and 2 Professional Chefs Diploma and then pursued a Level 3 apprenticeship before becoming the Sous Chef at Fletcher’s Restaurant. Our Catering and Hospitality lecturing team nominated him for this award.
Kayne currently works as a sous chef at Fletchers Fine Dining restaurant. He supports, guides, and mentors aspiring chefs. His work has been recognised as an “outstanding performance within the City and Guilds organization” by the Worshipful Company of Cooks.
Elliot Richardson, the Curriculum Manager for Catering and Hospitality, expressed,
We are all extremely proud of Kayne and take great pride in watching him continue to develop while supporting and mentoring students. This award is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and the skills he has honed during his time at the college and Fletcher’s restaurant.
Elliot Richardson — Curriculum Manager for Catering and Hospitality
Kayne’s success demonstrates what Nottingham College can offer and how apprenticeships can provide many opportunities.
