Please note: This news story may contain information that is no longer current or up to date.

Congratulations to Elliot and Connor, two of our construction apprentices who recently won awards at The Guild of Bricklayers, a regional competition that showcases the bricklaying skills of talented bricklaying trainees and apprentices from around the UK.

Junior runner up in the competition was Elliot Atkin who was competing for the first time. Elliot started at Nottingham College on a full-time level one diploma and then returned to study with us after securing an apprenticeship at DCM Building and Roofing LTD.

The Bricklaying Team at Nottingham College have credited Elliot for his progress and his hardworking attitude.

Elliot is a pleasure to teach and his attitude to work or any task is second to none. We hope to continue to train Elliot and can see no reason why he doesn’t continue to carry on and win competitions. Elliot has an incredible career ahead of him.”

Elliot will be receiving a cheque, runners up certificate and some tools donated by Rollins.

Also taking part in the competition was Connor Musson who won the senior category. Connor currently trains with us alongside undertaking his apprenticeship at A Wright Builders. He was runner up in this competition last year and has excelled this year by winning. He has been commended by the Bricklaying Team at the College for his attention to detail which will arm him with the skills he needs for a fantastic future career.

Connors eye for detail is meticulous and his drive to complete the highest standards is relentless. He has a fantastic and exciting career ahead”.

Connor will be receiving a cheque, winner’s certificate, tools donated by Rollins and more importantly the winner’s trophy!

Both apprentices have also been commended by Julian Walden, the Regional Chairman for the Guild of Bricklayers (Lincoln and Nottingham section) who commented on Connor and Elliot’s high standard of work. The College has also been commended for training bricklayers to such a high standard and arming our apprentices with the skills they need for successful future careers.
