News: We’re celebrating #volunteersweek and looking back at our Painting & Decorating students volunteering project

After Wollaton Library had to close due to a problem with the windows, our Joinery and Painting and Decorating students volunteered their skills.

Our students and lecturers worked together to repaint the space and replace shelving, some of which was repurposed from Central Library. This has benefitted the local community and expanded their skills and knowledge outside of college.

Students and staff attended the re-opening of Wollaton Library to see the hard work they put in and got to see the space being used by residents from the area.

Students were supported by staff from Nottingham College and Wollaton Library with the project being overseen by their tutors. We spoke to Deborah Ball, one of our Personal Social Development Tutors, who said:

The students have done an amazing job, they’ve been really professional, polite and it was a whole team effort.

Deborah Ball — Personal Social Development Tutor

We also heard from Sandra Edis, a representative who attended the Wollaton Library re-opening. She said:

Nottingham College have helped tremendously to bring together and finish the project.

Sandra Edis — Community Team Leader for the Library Service

We’re really proud of all the staff and students who volunteered throughout this project!
