Introduction to Textiles — Part-time
Course outline
This course offers an introduction into the world of textiles and is perfect for someone who is a beginner and has an interest in learning new textile skills or for someone who would like to refresh their textile skills.
This short course will allow you get an insight to how fabric is made from natural and synthetic fibres and the process behind this, you will explore colour palette, moodboard and mark making learning how this can inform your design ideas.
You will learn:
- Transfer printing
- Tie/dip dyeing
- Hand/machine embroidery
- Applique/ reverse applique
- Patchwork/quilting
- Mark making
- Learning about fibres to fabrics
- Colour pallets
- Moodboards
Throughout the course you will put together a sketchbook/ file compiling samples and experiments from the week’s workshops. By the end of this 16-week course, you will have produced your own range of samples and constructed a functioning product.
