Course outline
This course is perfect if you want to learn drawing and painting techniques or wish to further improve your skills, using various subjects or themes related to Summer.
You will develop or improve a number of different drawing and painting techniques, using a variety of media and materials. We will study a range of subjects, including trees, animals, still life etc, and will take inspiration from different artists and styles.
You can expect:
- Tutor demonstrations of skills and techniques, detailed step-by-step guides and a range of useful handouts and information resources.
- An opportunity to create artworks during each session.
- Individual help and advice from the tutor during each session with feedback and encouragement throughout.

Entry requirements | You must be aged 19+ and have a good standard of English as you will be required to complete a short workbook with the help of your tutor. |
Teaching & assessment | The course does not have a formal assessment or qualification, however individual verbal and written feedback is given each week. Feedback focusses on your successes, as well as suggestions for improvement, and are discussed during each session. |
Progression | Students are encouraged to access further community art and craft courses, other courses in various subjects, or move to a qualification based course in art or craft subjects. |
Additional information | You should bring a sketchbook to each session (at least A4 size), and as some materials may mark or stain clothing, you should also bring an apron to all sessions. |
