5 apprenticeships you never knew existed

This National Apprenticeship week we are firing up the conversation around apprenticeships. The theme for this week is Look Beyond and we are encouraging everyone to #LookBeyond the traditional stereotypes and myths which commonly surround apprenticeships. 

One if the most common stereotypes is that apprenticeships are only available in traditional industries such as construction and hairdressing. Well, we wanted to let you know that that isn’t the case at all! In fact, there are hundreds of apprenticeships you can undertake at lots of different levels – ranging from entry level all the way through to degree level.

Nottingham College advertise apprenticeships all year round and we regularly have over 100 vacancies on our website at any one time. Here’s a few which are current available to apply for, in industries you probably never knew existed… 

Pharmacy Counter Dispensing Assistant Apprenticeship

If you are passionate about pursuing a career in the pharmacy sector, this role is a fantastic opportunity with great potential. You’ll gain a qualification in Health Pharmacy Services alongside working on the front line, dealing with customers, managing stock and once trained, dispensing medications.

Dental nursing

If you’re wanting to pursue a career as a dental nurse then an apprenticeship in dental nursing is the perfect opportunity to get stuck into the job straight away, working chairside with dentists to put your skills into practice. By the end of the apprenticeship you will have gained the essential qualifications needed to register with the General Dental Council.

Teaching Assistant

A teaching assistant apprenticeship is an exciting opportunity for those who want to begin a career in education. Working primarily with children aged 4 – 11 the roles and responsibilities include lesson planning, providing in class support and working with teachers and other staff in the school to provide a rich, varied and inclusive learning experience. 

Lettings apprentice

We offer a range of Business Administration apprenticeships within specialised industries. We currently have two positions available at local letting agents, who are looking to assistant apprentices to assist in their lettings departments. The roles include different responsibilities such as; working with the general public to arrange property inspections, assisting in tenant referencing, registering applicants and booking viewings as well as general administration tasks such as maintaining company records, photocopying, scanning and printing. 

Apprentice Cake Decorator

If you are wanting to develop specialist knowledge in cake decoration then an apprentice cake decorator position could be the perfect opportunity! Responsibilities include working with customers to produce custom orders and bringing your creativity to the table to produce innovative products and recipes. Alongside this, you will complete training in health and safety, quality assurance and will work within a retail environment.
