News: Help your child beat exam stress.
Whether it’s GCSE’s, A Levels or assessments, exams can be a very stressful time for students. Although it’s normal to feel the pressure, there are lots of ways parents and carers can offer their support and help to ease the stress.
Worried about offering support with coursework and assessments?
Our FREE maths and English courses could give you the confidence boost you need!
Being well prepared for exams is one of the best ways to overcome stress and anxiety and young people often turn to their parents and carers for support, advice and guidance on assessments and coursework. If you want to brush up on your maths and English skills, we offer free maths and English courses for those who don’t already hold a qualification.
We offer a range of flexible online and on-campus maths and English courses. For those without a pass in a Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) maths or English qualification, the courses are FREE to study, have dedicated tutor support and you receive a fully recognised qualification on completion.

Discuss their future options and offer reassurance
There is lots of choice out there for school leavers and navigating their options with them can sometimes be tricky. We understand that things don’t always go to plan and it’s important to remind young people that there are lots of routes to take when choosing their next steps. At Nottingham College we have the widest range of options for school leavers in the region.
- Our different entry points and course levels means we cater for every type of learner!
- Support at our enrolment sessions means that even if a learner doesn’t meet the entry requirements for their chosen course, we’ll work with them to ensure they are offered a place on something best suited to them and their circumstances, including the option to resist their maths and English qualifications with the support of our experienced tutors.
- We have excellent wrap-around support to ensure our learners are in good hands from the moment they apply. From dedicated Wellbeing mentors and careers advisors, to work placement opportunities and social action projects and industry expertise to enhance their CVs, there’s more to college than the classroom.
- Our recent Ofsted inspection highlighted that the majority of our learners and apprentices develop the skills and knowledge that they need to move on to positive education or employment destinations.
