Elective Home Educated Pre-GCSE Programme

Course outline

This one-year Level 1 programme is for students in the equivalent of Years 10 or 11 and will provide students with the skills and knowledge to progress onto further programmes at Nottingham College e.g. GCSE or vocational options.

The course usually runs over 3 or 4 days and includes:

  • Core Level 1 qualifications in English and maths providing basis of skills and knowledge to sit GCSE exams the following year

  • Level 1 Science College Certificate (incorporating Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
  • Tutorial and Enrichment programme that includes:
    • Personal and social development
    • Current affairs
    • Employability skills
    • Careers guidance and planning
    • Relationship, health and sex education
    • A number of trips including to the Council House and Nottingham Castle

Students on this programme can also apply for one of our half-day short courses for home educated students (timetable permitting).
