Course introduction

This qualification is designed to provide you with an excellent understanding of the principles of working within the tourism and aviation sector and is a great starting point if you want to pursue a career in the travel, tourism and aviation industry.

You will learn:

Core Modules 

  • The UK travel and tourism Industry
  • Preparation for a career in the travel and tourism Industry
  • Customer service in the travel and tourism 

Optional Modules 

There will be six additional units selected by lecturers from an extensive list of 27 optional units. 

Examples include: 

  • Aviation Communication
  • Flight Operations
  • UK Airports
  • Airport Ground Operations
  • Airline Health, Safety and Security
  • Worldwide Passenger Airlines
  • Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
  • Investigating Airline Cabin Crew

You can expect industry experience, visits to East Midlands Airport and guest speakers. We will also help you to gain valuable experience on work placements that give you a real insight into the industry.

Course information

1 - 2 years

NCFE Level 3 Introductory Diploma in Travel and Tourism with Aviation 

You will need:

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above or progression from the Level 2 NCFE Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism or the Level 2 NCFE Diploma in Aviation.

You’ll complete scenario-based assessments, written assignments, practical role plays and presentations.

Choose to follow with further studies at Nottingham College on to the Level 3 NCFE Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism with the Aviation Pathway. 

You could also pursue a career as an event organiser, travel agent or travel the world by gaining employment in the following career paths but not exclusive to: Air cabin crew Airport ground staff Airport/airline management
